Aligning audio beats with video cuts is a key technique in video editing that enhances the overall impact and emotional resonance.
Creates a natural flow that feels more seamless and rhythmic
Immerses viewers more deeply (creates a satisfying, almost invisible bond between what they hear and see)
Watch and listen to the audio beats, while taking notice of the video transitions:
Select your green audio file rectangle so there is an outline around it.
Play and listen (on your keyboard, click the space bar to play/pause)
You want to find noticeable beats or audio transitions.
Pause when you find one (you can fine tune your placement with the back/forward arrow keys on your keyboard)
Place a marker by clicking "M" on your keyboard.
The green markers should be on your green audio rectangle (not on top of the timeline)
Repeat until you have at least 6 markers.
Use the "Ripple Edit Tool" to trim your video clips to align with your audio markers.
You don't have to align to every marker, some videos could go past a marker.
You can also cut one video into different parts so it "jumps" in the middle on beat.
Speed up (shorten) or slow down (lengthen) a video in order to make it align better with your audio:
Select a video (purple rectangle) and right-click
Click "Speed/Duration"
Adjust the % (less than 100 = slower, more than 100 = faster)
Find a good place to stop your audio file, and trim your last clip to that spot.
Show your desk partner your video with the aligned audio/video cuts.
Watch your desk partner's video.
On your keyboard, click "command" + "shift" + "3" to screenshot your entire screen.
Navigate to "My Drive" > "Video Production" > "3- Premiere Pro" > "Formatives"
Move your screenshot over
In the top menu, click "File" > "Save"
