Includes a message or story that captures the audience's attention and motivates them to take action or change their behavior.
Distributed through various channels, such as television, social media, or public spaces
Feature a call-to-action or contact information.
Topics & Scripts
Choose one of the following topics and 3-sentence scripts:
Substance Abuse: "Substance abuse can damage your health and future. Seek help from a trusted adult or a support group. Recovery is possible."
Cyberbullying: "Report cyberbullying. Kindness costs nothing. Create a positive online community."
Distracted Driving: "Put your phone away when driving. It only takes a second of distraction to cause an accident. Keep your eyes on the road and your hands on the wheel."
Environmental Sustainability: "Reduce your carbon footprint. Use reusable bags and water bottles, conserve energy, and recycle. Create a better future."
Mental Health: "1 in 5 teenagers struggle with mental health. Seek help from a trusted adult or a mental health professional. It's okay not to be okay."
Choice: Write your own 3-sentence script for a topic of your choice
Filming: Double System Set-up
All group members must each film their own video - no sharing footage.
Set-up your camera:
Medium shot, eyes on the rule of thirds top line
FPS: 24
Shutter speed: 50
Aperture: lowest
Be the camera operator and audio engineer for your video.
Check exposure and adjust ISO, focus your shots, and start/stop recording on the camera
Wear the headphones connected to your audio set-up, start/stop the recording on your audio set-up
Cast 2 people from your group to be in your video.
Actor A: say the first sentence and the last sentence
Actor B: say the second sentence (If your group is only you and another person, you may be Actor B, and say 1 sentence in your video.)
Editing Requirements
Import and combine your 3 different shots of your 3-sentence script
Sync double-system audio (audio/video from camera + audio from separate audio set-up)
Include background music and a sound effect related to your content
Include text or images before and after your videos, with your background music starting before and ending after your videos
Audio is tagged, loudness is adjusted with auto-match or manual level adjustment, music is ducked against dialogue.
Sync Audio
Import your audio/video and audio clips into a Premiere Pro project.
Select both (or all) clips that you want to synchronize.
Right-click and click "Synchronize"
In the "Synchronize Clips" pop-up, select "Audio" and click "OK"
Your clips should now be aligned.
You can now trim the edges, if needed
Mute your audio/video audio from the camera.
Select both and group
Download Music and Sound Effects
Go to: https://pixabay.com/music/
Choose a music clip to download
Choose a sound effect to download
Move your downloaded audio files to your "Creative Cloud Files" in Finder
Import & Add Tracks
With Premiere Pro open, drag your downloaded audio files into your timeline.
Right-click on the empty space next to your audio tracks and click "Add Tracks..."
In the "Add Tracks" pop-up, click "OK"
Move your audio files to their own tracks.
Trim Music
Trim your music clips so that is starts a few seconds before your dialogue and ends a few seconds after your dialogue.
Zoom In Vertically
Click and drag the circle on the right side of your audio timeline to zoom in on your audio until you see the level line on your audio tracks.
Essential Sound
In the right side panel, open "Essential Sound"
If you can't see it, go to "Window" > "Workspaces" > "Effects" or "Audio"
Edit Dialogue
In the Essential Sound tab, tag your 3 synced audio/video clip as dialogue.
Select all three clips at the same time.
Loudness: Click "Auto-Match" (you can also have multiple dialogue tracks selected at once when you do this)
Adjust Clip Volume Level manually if needed.
Your audio levels should be around -12 to -29 dB and peaks should be around -6 dB.
Edit Music
In the Essential Sound tab, tag your background music clip as music.
Loudness: Click "Auto-Match" (you can also have multiple music tracks selected at once when you do this)
Ducking: Check the box to turn it on, make sure it has the dialogue icon in blue, then click "Generate Keyframes" to duck your music against your dialogue
Edit Sound Effects
In the Essential Sound tab, tag your sound effect as SFX.
Loudness: Click "Auto-Match" (you can also have multiple music tracks selected at once when you do this)
Adjust Clip Volume Level manually if needed.
Take a Screenshot of Your Editing Timeline
On your keyboard press "cmd" + "shift" + "4"
Use the screenshot crosshairs to click and drag from the top left of the editing timeline to the bottom right.
