Premiere Pro Review
Connect Headphones
Either connect your own headphones or borrow a pair from the cabinet.
choose a Song & Download
Choose 1 of the following songs from Pixabay:
Click "Download"
Set Up Finder
Go to your Finder in your dock.
Select the "Columns" icon or choose "as Columns" in the dropdown list.Â
Select "Kind" the next dropdown to the right.
Create New Folder
Open up "My Drive" and navigate to your "Video Production 2"
Right-click in the blank space to the right and click "New Folder"Â
Title the new folder "2 - Premiere Pro"
Move Audio
Right-click on "Downloads" and click "Open in New Tab"
Drag your audio file to the "2 - Premiere Pro" tab.
Open Premiere Pro
Open Creative Cloud (rainbow icon) in your dock
Under the "Apps" tab, find Premiere Pro
Click "Open"
New Project
Click "New Project"
Adjust the "Project name" to: Review
Change the "Project location" to your new "Formatives" folder.
Click "Choose Location..."
Navigate to "My Drive" > "Video Production 2" > "2 - Premiere Pro"
Click "Choose"
Select Your Videos & Music
Click "Home" on the left menu
Double-click the "My Drive"
Double-click into "Video Production 2"Â
Double-click into "2 - Premiere Pro" and select your music file.
Double-click into "1 - Camera"
Check all your videos from class so far:
"Scavenger Hunt" (15 videos)
"Fanny Pack" (10 videos)
"Exposure Practice" (6 videos)
Click "Create"
Screenshot Your Timeline
On your keyboard, click "command" + "shift" + "5" to open the screenshot program.
Adjust the rectangle so that it is only showing the timeline area (the bottom right panel)
Click "Capture"
Trim to less than 30 seconds
Use the following trim tools to cut off the start, end, and possibly middle of each video so that there are no unnecessary parts and your entire video is less than 30 seconds long.
Using the selection tool
In the tool panel, click on the pointer icon (top tool) or click "V" on your keyboard.
Click on the video.
To trim:
The start: hover your pointer over the left end of the clip until you see the red arrow/bracket show up. Then click and drag the edge to the right to trim the start off.
The end: hover your pointer over the right end of the clip until you see the red arrow/bracket show up. Then click and drag the edge to the left to trim the end off.
Ripple Delete Gaps
Hold down "command" on your keyboard.
Right-click on a gap.
Click "Ripple Delete" to delete the gap.
Using the Ripple Edit Tool
In the tool panel, click on the double arrows icon (third tool icon down) or click "B" on your keyboard
Click on the video.
To trim:
The start: hover your pointer over the left end of the clip until you see the yellow arrow/bracket show up. Then click and drag the edge to the right to trim the start off.
The end: hover your pointer over the right end of the clip until you see the yellow arrow/bracket show up. Then click and drag the edge to the left to trim the end off.
Cut Using the Razor Tool
In the Tool panel, click on the razor icon (fourth tool icon down) or click "C" on your keyboard
Hover your pointer over the part you want to cut.
Listen to Audio and Mark
Select your green audio file rectangle so there is an outline around it.
Play and listen (on your keyboard, click the space bar to play/pause)
You want to find noticeable beats or audio transitions.
Pause when you find one (you can fine tune your placement with the back/forward arrow keys on your keyboard)Â
Place a marker by clicking "M" on your keyboard.
The green markers should be on your green audio rectangle (not on top of the timeline)
Repeat for the first 30 seconds of the song.
Edit Videos to Align
Use the "Ripple Edit Tool" to trim your video clips to align with your audio markers.
You don't have to align to every marker, some videos could go past a marker.
You can also cut one video into different parts so it "jumps" in the middle on beat.
Speed up (shorten) or slow down (lengthen) a video in order to make it align better with your audio:
Select a video (purple rectangle) and right-click
Click "Speed/Duration"
Adjust the % (less than 100 = slower, more than 100 = faster)
Trim Audio
Trim the end of your audio to end at the end of your videos (max 30 seconds).
Screenshot Your Timeline Again
Now that you have trimmed:
On your keyboard, click "command" + "shift" + "5" to open the screenshot program.
Adjust the rectangle so that it is only showing the timeline area (the bottom right panel)
Click "Capture"
Save Your Project
In the top menu, click "File" > "Save"
Export Your Video
In the top tabs, click "Export"
Rename the "File Name" to "Review"
Double-click on the blue hyperlink next to "Location" In the pop-up:
In the "Where" area, select "My Drive" >"Video Production 2" > "2 - Premiere Pro"
Click "Save"
Click "Export" in the bottom right corner.
Move SCreenshots
Move your screenshots from "Desktop" to your "My Drive" > "Video Production 2" > "2 - Premiere Pro"
Submit Google Drive Link to Canvas
In Finder:
Right-click on "Video Production" and click "Copy link to clipboard"
Paste the link in Canvas.
