SUMMATIVE: T-Shirt
Project Brief
Design a t-shirt using vector graphics in Adobe Fresco
Transfer your design to Illustrator and prep for production.
Produce it using iron-on vinyl and a Cricut cutting machine.
Brainstorm
Start a New File Fresco
Open Adobe Fresco.
Start a new document: tap "+ Create new"
Tap the "Print" tab
Tap "Tabloid"
Adjust the file name from "Untitled..." to "Last Name, T-Shirt Brainstorm"
Save the Template Image
Long press on the template photo on the right
Click "Save in Photos"
Add Template to Fresco
Tap the photo icon and tap "Photos"
Choose the template image.
Drag the corners to fill the page. Do not drag the sides.
Click "Done"
Inspiration/Mood Board
Search online for images that help you think of your t-shirt design.
Find at least 10 images to save and add to your Brainstorm Fresco document in the box labeled "brainstorm/mood board"
Things to think through:
What do you want your t-shirt to be about?
What colors might you use?
Are there t-shirts that you like that you want to try to emulate?
Create Thumbnail Sketches
Next you will draft 4 different ideas for your t-shirt design.
Sketch each design out in the boxes labeled "thumbnail sketches"
Drawing Options / Copyright
Your design must follow our in-class rules on copyright material and tracing.
You may:
Free-hand draw (no reference/trace)
Trace photographs (images of real life, taken on a camera) - either yours or found online
Trace drawings/illustrations (must combine, cannot only trace one)
Or a combination of free-hand drawing, tracing photographs, and/or tracing drawings/illustrations
Trace a Photo (YES)
Find a photograph (or multiple) online, trace it, and be done.
Trace Multiple Illustrations (YES)
Find multiple illustrations online, trace them, and combine.
Trace an Illustration (NO)
You may not only find one illustration online, trace it, and be done.
Choose your colors
Choose 4 vinyl colors:
2 primary vinyl colors (up to 12"x12" inches)
2 secondary vinyl colors (up to 6"x6" inches each)
Save as a PDF File
Tap the share icon at the top
Tap "Publish & Export"
Tap "Export as"
Make sure it is named "Last Name, T-Shirt Brainstorm"
Choose "PDF"
Tap "Export"
Tap "Drive"
Add PDF to Portfolio
Go into the "Folder" area and tap "My Drive"
Tap your "Graphic Design Folder" > "1 - Production"
Tap "Save here" in the bottom right
Tap "UPLOAD" in the top right
Save Timelapse Video to Google Drive
Tap the share icon (the arrow and box) (top right corner)
Tap "Preview timelapse"
Tap "Export" then "Drive"
Go into the "Folder" area and tap "1 - Production"
Tap "Save here" in the bottom right
Tap "UPLOAD" in the top right
Check & Submit Google Drive
On your iMac: check that you have the following 2 files to your "1 - Production" Google Drive folder:
Exported PDF (from Fresco/iPad)
Timelapse Video (from Fresco/iPad)
Right-click on your "Graphic Design" folder
Click "Copy link to clipboard"
Paste this link in Canvas to submit.
Design
Decide how big your design will be. For a basic front design, make your Fresco artboard 12 in. x 12 in.
Remember your vinyl sizes for your primary colors are 12 inches x 12 inches and your secondary colors are 6 in. x 6 in.
Use vector brushes to draw your design.
