Cricut prep practice
Copy the Illustrator Template
Go to the template: https://assets.adobe.com/id/urn:aaid:sc:VA6C2:5ada9fe4-c7c3-45d6-b62a-29105932ec29?view=difile
Click "Sign in" (unless already signed in)
Click "Copy to Files"
Open the Creative Cloud desktop app from your dock.
Go to "Files" on the left
Right-click and click "Open"
Delete Image Layers
Open the "Layers" panel
Delete any layers that say "Image" by selecting it and then clicking the trash bin at the bottom right.
Click "Yes" on the pop-up
Select & Delete Template Fill-In
Use your selection tool and click and drag to create your selection box then let go to select your name and color swatches.
Click "delete" on your keyboard.
Adjust Artboard Size
Select the artboard tool.
In the "Properties" tab, adjust:
W: 7.5 in
H: 4 in
Click "Exit" in the Artboard area
Adjust Artwork Size
Select your Selection tool
Click and drag and let go to select your artwork
Hold down "shift" on your keyboard and click and drag the corners of your artwork to adjust the size without messing up the proportions.
Click and drag your artwork to move onto the artboard.
Organize Each Vinyl Color to a Layer
Select a shape.
Click "Select" > "Same" > "Fill Color"
Move all the little square colors in the Layers to a single layer.
Rename the layer to the color name.
Repeat for each color.
Delete empty layers.
Unite Shapes of the Same Color
In the "Layers" panel, click the circle to the right of a layer
In the "Properties" panel, under "Pathfinder" click the first icon.
Repeat for each color layer.
To check that it worked, open each layer and you should only see "<Group>"
Save .AIC file
If you see an asterisk (*), that means there are unsaved changes.
In the top menu, click "File" > "Save"
If "Save" is grayed out, it means your file has already been automatically saved.
Save as an SVG File
Go to "File" > "Save As..."
Choose "On your computer"
Choose the location: "My Drive" > "Graphic Design" > "4 - Vector"
Change "Format" to "SVG (svg)"
Check "Use Artboards"
Click "Save"
Click "OK"
Import Project to Cricut Design Space
Open or Install Cricut Design Space
Open "Launchpad" from your dock
Search for "Cricut"
If it is there, click to open.
If it is not there, go to Downloading and Installing Design Space (Mac) and follow the instructions to install.
Sign in to the Class Account
Once the app is installed:
Click "Sign In" and input:
Username: ehodges@bethelsd.org
Password: GraphicDesign$$
Click "SIGN IN >"
Upload Design
Click "+ New Project"
Click "Upload" in the bottom left.
Then click "Upload Image"
Click "Browse"
Find your .svg file and click "Open"
Your design will look really low quality - click "Continue" then "Upload"
Ungroup
Right-click on the green "Group" and click "Ungroup"
Click in the blank canvas area to de-select the 3 layers so they're no longer highlighted green.
Attach Colors
Now you need to attach the colors together so your design does not get jumbled when printing.
Select the bottom layer.
Click the "Attach" button in the bottom. This will move the layer to the top and now it will be called "Attach"
Repeat on the bottom layer again and again.
Save
Click "Save"
Title your file "First Name Last Name (Period)"
Click "Save"
Select "Cloud & Computer" and click "Apply"

Click on your keyboard "cmd" + "shift" + "5"
Adjust the rectangle to screenshot your design in Cricut (include your layers and file name)
