Voiceover: “The tension is high as the home team takes the court for their highly-anticipated match-up against their rivals. We'll bring you updates throughout the game, stay tuned."
Beach
On-Camera: "This is __________ live at the beach where an excavator can be seen working on a revitalization project.”
Voiceover: “The beach is temporarily closed off to the public. The new sand will help protect the beach and dunes from coastal erosion. "
College
On-Camera: "This is ______ live at the college where students are preparing to start the new semester.
Voiceover: “The campus is full of energy as they settle in for another academic year. We wish them all the best of luck in their studies."
Fire
On-Camera: "This is ________ reporting live from the scene of a raging fire.”
Voiceover: “Firefighters are working tirelessly to contain the flames, but the damage is already extensive. Nearby residents are encouraged to avoid the area."
Marathon
On-Camera: "This is ________ live at the marathon where the runners are pushing themselves to the limit.
Voiceover: “Runners of all ages and levels are taking part in this event, and the atmosphere is truly inspiring. We will bring you updates on the winners shortly."
New York
On-Camera: “This is _________ live outside of a local barber shop that is open for the first time in months.”
Voiceover: “The shop has been closed due to the pandemic and the owner is excited to be back in business. The customers are also thrilled to finally get a fresh haircut.”
Road Construction
On-Camera: "This is _________ live on 7th street where a major road construction project is underway.
Voiceover: “The work is causing traffic delays, but city officials say it's necessary for the long-term improvement of the road infrastructure. Drivers are advised to plan ahead.”
Part 1: On-Camera Audio
Camera Groups & Roles
Get into your camera group and get your camera, mic, light, green screen, and tripod set-up.
Identify who will complete which roles. Some people may need to fulfill multiple roles depending on your group size. You need to complete different roles than last time.
Location Manager: choose the location to film
Look for a spot where windows can be facing the person
Set the tripod/camera up so that the person's waist and up is visible
Lighting Director: set up the light at half brightness
Director of Photography: set the camera settings
Shutter speed: 60 / Aperture: lowest possible (~5) / Lens Zoom: 55mm / Manual Focus (MF)
Exposure Technician: test the exposure meter and adjust ISO
Digital Imaging Technician1: hold the 18% gray card
Digital Imaging Technician2: set the custom white balance
Sound Engineer: set the camera sound recording to manual, increase the recording level until the level meter averages out at -12
Green Screen Manager: set up the green screen with the masking tape or hold it.
Camera Operator (everyone at least once): manually focus on the person, press the record button
Set Up & Film
Set up, per the instructions for your role
Film each person saying their on-camera line.
Apply Green Screen Effect in iMovie
Download the first video for your news event from the Google Drive folder.
Upload it in iMovie
Add your green screen on-camera video.
Share and save your video to your camera role.
Part 2: Voiceover Narration & Background Noise
Record Voice with iPad
Find a quiet place in the school.
Use your iPad and the Voice Memos app.
Record yourself saying the voiceover lines.
Save your voice recording to files.
Download 2nd Video
Download the second video for your news event from the Google Drive folder.
Combine in Adobe Premiere Rush
Add your edited/saved green screen video, voiceover audio and second downloaded video to a new Adobe Premiere Rush project.
Arrange in the following order:
On-Camera green screen edited video
Downloaded video & voiceover
Add Background Noise
Find some background noise to stack with your voiceover.
Tap the "+" then "Audio"
Tap "Browse Audio" and choose "Sound Effects"
Search for a sound that would naturally happen in the background of your video.
Tap "Add"
Reduce the clip volume to 25.
Trim & Export
Trim the edges so they match up
Share and export.
Upload to Canvas.
