Green Screen Practice

Record The 3 Green Screen Videos

Have your partner use your iPad to film you with the camera app.

  1. In the studio: record 10 seconds of you "flying".

  2. In the front of the classroom: record 3-5 seconds of your floating head

  3. In the back of the classroom: record 5-10 seconds:

      • The person filming should direct you to stand on the right side pointing towards the opposite corner.

      • Say: "This Fourth of July, Seattle is looking to be perfect at 76 degrees"

If you have iMovie downloaded on your iPad you can using the first directions for iPad. Otherwise skip to the iMac directions below:

Download 3 Backgrounds

iPad:

  1. Click and hold on the weather background photo and click "Save to Photos"

  2. Click and hold on the foggy background photo and click "Save to Photos"

  3. Go to the flying video and click "..." then "Send a copy" then "Save Video"

iMac:

  1. Right-click on the weather background photo on the right and click "Save Image As..."

  2. Right-click on the foggy background photo on the right and click "Save Image As..."

  3. Save the image to your "Creative Cloud Files" folder in Finder

  4. Go to the flying video

  5. Click the download icon in the top right.

  6. Move the video to your "Creative Cloud Files" folder in Finder

iPad Directions:

  1. Open iMovie

  2. Under "Start New Project" click "Movie"

  3. Select only your downloaded backgrounds (do not select your green screen videos)

  4. Click "Create Movie" at the bottom - this will bring all 3 backgrounds into the timeline.

  5. Click the + in the top right and find your first green screen video

  6. Click the "..." then "Green/Blue Screen"

  7. Repeat for all three green screen videos

Export and Upload to Canvas

  1. Tap "Done" in the top left corner of iMovie.

  2. Tap the upload icon in the bottom toolbar

  3. Tap "Save Video" and when it's done tap "OK"

  4. Open Canvas and find the assignment.

  5. Click "Submit Assignment" then "File Upload"

  6. Find your video and click "Submit"



iMac Directions

AirDrop Videos to your iMac

  1. Follow the instructions taped to your iMac to set up AirDrop.

  2. AirDrop your two green screen videos to your iMac

Open iMovie

  1. Go to your Launchpad

  2. Find iMovie and double-click to open.

Create New Project & Import

  1. Click "Create New"

  2. Then open Finder and locate your downloaded background video and photo and AirDropped green screen videos.

  3. Drag over to the "Import Media" area.

Drag your Backgrounds and Videos to the Timeline

  1. Drag your backgrounds to the timeline.

  2. Then drag your green screen videos on top of their backgrounds.

Change Overlay to Green/Blue Screen

  1. Click on your green screen video

  2. In the top right panel, click "Cutaway" and then choose "Green/Blue Screen" instead.

  3. Now the green screen should no longer show.

Export and Upload to Canvas

  1. Click "File" > "Share" > "File..."

  2. Rename your file then click "Next..."

  3. Choose "Creative Cloud Files"

  4. Click "Save"

  5. Open Canvas and find the assignment.

  6. Click "Submit Assignment" then "File Upload"

  7. Find your video and click "Submit"
