Project Brief
Design an enamel pin for a specific client. Your role, client, and project specifications are up to you (you get to make them up - identify them in your invoice).

You will need to fill in the blanks with your choosing:
Movie: Design an enamel pin for a movie's (your choice) upcoming release (you can use a past movie release and pretend it is current)
Project Title: (Movie's Title) Pin
Client: (Movie's Director)
Video Game: Design an enamel pin for a video game's (your choice) upcoming release (you can use a past release and pretend it is current)
Project Title: (Video Game's Name) Pin
Client: (Video Game's Designer)
Music: Design an enamel pin for a musician's (your choice) upcoming concert or tour (you can use a past concert/tour and pretend it is upcoming)
Project: (Concert/Tour Name) Pin
Client: (Musician's Name)
Sports: Design an enamel pin for a sports player or team's (your choice) upcoming game/tournament (you can use a past game/tournament and pretend it is upcoming)

Client: (Player's Name, Coach's Name, or Team Owner's Name)
Start Invoice
Create a Copy of the Google Doc
Go to: Google Doc or scan the QR code with your iPad
Click "Make a Copy"
Open your "Google Docs" app and refresh.
Tap "Copy of Invoice" to open
Tap the pencil icon to edit.
Add Your Design Role Info
Type your name
Job Title (choose based on answer above)
Freelance Designer
Junior Designer at an Agency/Studio
Add Invoice Info
Invoice #: 1
Date:
Add Client Details
Under "Client:" figure out your client's name and type it in the box.
Add Project Details
Figure out your project description (listed above) and add to the description box.
You will finish the rest once you are done with the project.
Design Enamel Pin
Must be vector artwork (no raster: no blending/smudging colors or gradients)
Vector brush to create outlines (metal)
Paint bucket to fill in with color
Optional: include dangling parts, spinning parts, and blinking lights:
Drawing Options
Your design must follow our in-class rules on copyright material and tracing.
You may:
Free-hand draw (no reference/trace)
Trace photographs (images of real life, taken on a camera) - either yours or found online
Trace drawings/illustrations (must combine, cannot only trace one)
Or a combination of free-hand drawing, tracing photographs, and/or tracing drawings/illustrations
Trace a Photo (YES)
Find a photograph (or multiple) online, trace it, and be done.

Find multiple illustrations online, trace them, and combine.
Trace an Illustration (NO)
You may not only find one illustration online, trace it, and be done.
Create Canvas
On your iPad open Adobe Fresco
Create New "Custom"
Change to inches, W: 11, H: 11
Choose an Outline Color
Choose a color for your outlines (this is the metal portion) Options:
Black
Silver (gray)
Gold (choose a color close to gold)
Gold:
Silver:
Black:
Draw Outlines (Metal)
Choose a Vector brush (3rd brush icon)
Draw your outlines (this is the raised metal portion)
Optional: Outline Vector Brush Option
There is a vector brush option with an outline where you can choose the outline and fill color.
Make sure the outline is your metal color and then you can choose your fill color (enamel)
Choose a Color Scheme
Review your color notes or the color page: https://www.hodgesclass.com/design/color
Use one of the various color scheme (such as analogous, warm/cool, complementary, etc.) that we learned about to choose your colors for your enamel pin.
Fill in the colors (enamel)
Use the paint bucket tool (do not use a brush to add color) to fill in your outlines with color
Save as a PDF File
Tap the share icon at the top
Tap "Publish & Export"
Tap "Export as"
Rename to "Client Pin"
Choose "PDF"
Tap "Export"
Tap "Google Drive"
Add PDF to New Folder in Portfolio
Go into the "Folder" area and tap "My Drive"
Tap your "Graphic Design Folder"
Tap the "+" folder icon to make a new folder
Title the new folder "2 - Client Project" and tap "Create"
Tap "Save here" in the bottom right
Tap "UPLOAD" in the top right
Finalize Invoice
Add Hours
Open your invoice from before.
Describe the steps you took to complete the project
Estimate the hours you worked on the project.
Move Invoice to Portfolio
Open the Google Drive app
Tap "Files" in the bottom right.
Location your Invoice Google Doc
Tap the "..." and tap "Move"
Select your "2 - Client Project"

Create a Google Doc in your Portfolio
Open Google Drive on your iPad
Navigate to your "Graphic Design" folder then "2 - Client Project"
Click the "+" in the bottom right and click Google Docs.
Respond to The Reflection Questions
Copy and paste these questions into your Google Doc and answer them.
Describe the difference between vector and raster files.
Why did we use vectors only for the enamel pin design?
Describe the color scheme you used.
Check Files
Check your "2 - Client Project" folder - it should have the following in it:

Submit Portfolio Link to Canvas
Copy Link
Go to the "Google Drive" app
Go to "Files"
Find your "Graphic Design" folder and click the "..." to the right then "Copy link"
Submit to Canvas
Go to the Canvas app and find the assignment
Click "Submit Assignment"
Tap the text entry area twice and tap "Paste"
Click "Submit"
